Maverick: happy as can be living his best life doing things like riding in a firetruck.

Mom: back in the hospital recovering from yet another surgery.
We’ve been quiet around here because the chaos has not settled. After yet another hospital admission of mysterious pain, on and off fevers, and puzzling symptoms….a new surgeon decided to take her in for emergency surgery to remove her hernia and any possible infection. While in there he also had to untangle any bowel that had gotten moved around. We are a few days post op and looking good so far. Her pain is pretty consistent, but luckily she has been drifting in and out of outer space a lot because they are very on top of it. The recovery will be long because the incision is almost the full length of her torso but she is progressing. She even got moved into a regular room on the floor today. Her goal was to do one lap later today when PT came by. She is definitely gaining some of her feisty spirit back as evidenced by her lack of enthusiasm about her clear liquid diet.
As for rejection, her status remains the same. We are hopeful that with the hernia and possible infection gone that her body will be able to focus on getting this liver up and running at full speed but we understand that it’s a loooooong waiting game. We are moving inches not miles but as long as we are moving forward, we’ll take it.
We’re here. We hear you all reaching out to us and we appreciate every second of it. It feels like a never ending battle but you guys make it easier on us. We always wish we have good news or even better news but this is our lives right now and will be for a while. Thanks for sticking around with us through it.
xoxo
