People who didn’t grow up going driving into the city are appalled that we have to travel into manhattan so often for these visits, but i’ll tell you, it’s way less frustrating than driving at the merge of 24/287 for the majority of us. If you know, you know.
Aside from the usual traffic on the FDR and bridge, we breezed right in yesterday for our monthly visit with the transplant coordinator and doctor and we got our first glimmer of good news in awhile.
Mom’s name is finally coming up on the first page for transplantation.
We have been hearing “hopefully just a few more weeks!” since January.. the waiting is a killer game and a horrible mental one but for once it feels like this might be something good we are working towards.
Although she is now finally appearing on the page we need, it can still be awhile until an organ that matches her criteria comes in but cross your fingers and wear your PJs inside out or something tonight.
The waiting game has not only felt like the longest weeks of our lives but it has been a terrible mental game. I would be lying to you all if I said that it was all peachy keen on our end. There are days where we have a little family cry session and also days where we just celebrate having a good day, like getting out of bed and getting out of the house.
It’s not all rainbows and sunshine but every person in our lives constantly reminds us that they’re willing to bring a heat lamp on gloomy days and a pack of skittles if we’re feeling down. Our support system is like no other. At times, even overwhelming, in the BEST way, hence the blog.
Mental health is not talked about enough and I highly encourage anyone struggling with any part of their day to reach out to someone to chat. I definitely recommend professional yapping but if you need an ear, our ears are always open. Therapy is like chicken soup for the soul.

As always, thank you. Please keep sending good vibes our way. Channel all your good juju and send a liver our way.
Pay something forward today.
Happy hump.
xoxo
